Battery maintenance:
1. Do not overcharge and discharge: The battery of a lithium battery scooter should be charged as soon as possible when the power is less than 20%, and the charging time should not be too long each time. Generally, it can be fully charged in 3-8 hours. After it is fully charged, the charger should be unplugged in time to avoid overcharging and damage to the battery. In addition, do not frequently charge the battery after it is completely exhausted, and do not keep the battery in a high power state for a long time.
2. Use an adapter charger: Use an original charger or a charger that matches the battery specifications, and avoid using inferior or mismatched chargers to avoid damage to the battery. If the charger is lost or damaged, you should repurchase an adapter charger on the official website or regular channels.
3. Avoid charging at extreme temperatures: The battery should be charged indoors with an ambient temperature of 5℃ to 35℃. If the battery temperature is below 0℃ or above 60℃, the battery will not charge; in addition, please do not use the battery when the ambient temperature is below −10℃ or above 40℃, otherwise it may damage the battery or weaken the battery performance. In the summer when the temperature is high, try to choose to charge at night. At this time, the ambient temperature is relatively low, and the lithium battery can reach the best charging temperature of about 25℃; in the low temperature environment such as winter, try to charge during the day. In most places in my country, even the daytime temperature in winter is generally not lower than 0℃, so charging can reduce the damage to the lithium battery.
4. Avoid charging when the battery is overheated: Lithium batteries release heat during the charging and discharging process, so do not charge immediately after riding the scooter. Leave it for at least 30 minutes and wait for the battery to cool before charging to avoid affecting its performance and life due to overheating of the battery.
5. Regular deep discharge: Perform a deep discharge every once in a while (such as about a month), that is, let the battery fully discharge before fully charging, which helps to maintain the activity of the battery, but do not perform deep discharge frequently to avoid damage to the battery.
6. Maintenance when not in use for a long time: If the electric scooter is not used for a long time, it is recommended to remove the battery and store it in a cool and dry place with an ambient temperature between 15℃ and 25℃. Do not store the battery in an overheated or overcold place. When lithium batteries need to be stored for a long time, you need to charge the battery to about 80% and unplug the power supply (do not charge to 100%). In this case, it can be placed for about three months without causing much damage to the lithium battery. If it is placed for too long, it is necessary to recharge it halfway and charge it to 50%.
Riding habits:
1. Steady riding: Avoid sudden acceleration, sudden braking and frequent starting and stopping, and try to maintain a constant speed, which can reduce battery power consumption and extend the range. For example, accelerate slowly when starting to avoid instantaneous high current discharge; when you need to slow down or stop, predict in advance and gradually slow down to avoid sudden braking.
2. Reasonable load: Do not overload, and try to reduce unnecessary items, because the heavier the load, the greater the power consumption, and the range will be reduced accordingly. For example, a person weighing 100kg riding a bicycle may have a shorter range than a person weighing 60kg riding a bicycle.
3. Avoid high-speed driving: Although the maximum speed of lithium battery scooters may be high, in actual riding, try to avoid driving at the maximum speed for a long time, because the power consumption of the motor is large when driving at high speed, which will accelerate the battery consumption and shorten the cruising range. Generally speaking, driving at medium and low speeds can achieve longer cruising range.
4. Use gliding: On flat roads or when power is not needed, you can use gliding to reduce battery power consumption. For example, when approaching an intersection or needing to stop, you can release the throttle in advance and let the scooter glide naturally for a distance.
5. Avoid driving against the wind: Headwinds will increase air resistance, so that the scooter needs to consume more energy to move forward, so try to avoid riding in strong headwinds. If you cannot avoid driving against the wind, you can reduce the speed appropriately to reduce power consumption.
Vehicle maintenance:
1. Keep the tire pressure normal: Check the tire pressure regularly to ensure that the tire pressure meets the requirements of the vehicle manual. Insufficient air pressure will increase the rolling resistance of the tire, so that the motor needs to consume more energy to drive the scooter, resulting in a reduction in cruising range; while too high air pressure will affect the comfort and safety of riding. Generally speaking, the tire pressure of lithium battery scooters is between 2.5-3.5bar.
2. Clean and maintain the scooter regularly: Clean the body, battery and motor of the scooter regularly to keep it clean and tidy, which can reduce the impact of dust, dirt and other factors on the performance of the vehicle. At the same time, apply an appropriate amount of lubricating oil to the chain, brake line and other parts to reduce friction and wear, improve the operating efficiency of the vehicle, and indirectly extend the cruising range.
3. Check the brake system: Make sure the brake system is sensitive and reliable to avoid energy waste due to untimely or excessive braking. If the brake system is faulty or improperly adjusted, the scooter may need to consume more energy to overcome resistance during driving, thereby affecting the cruising range.
4. Pay attention to the vehicle storage environment: Store the scooter in a dry, ventilated and cool place, avoid direct sunlight, humidity or high temperature environment, these environmental factors may cause damage to the battery and other components of the vehicle, thereby affecting the cruising range. If the vehicle needs to be stored for a long time, it should be handled according to the above battery maintenance method when it is not used for a long time.
